Ph.D Candidate at the University of Florida

I began my doctoral studies as an international student in the Water Institute Graduate Fellow (WIGF) program at the University of Florida's Geography department in 2017.

Moving to a new country and starting over, was not a new thing for me. I know that it takes time to find your grounding in a new place. I know that you need to welcome all the new experiences with open arms. Your attitude defines if you will have a good or bad experience in a new place.

When my family and friends asked me how long it took to do a PhD, I would tell them "4 years", they would open their eyes wide and repeat what I just said, just a bit louder "4 years?!??". Well, I am at the beginning of my 6th year, and I am excited to be almost done.

I've always been curious, never losing that childlike wonder at new things, looking at everything with wide eyes. That, I believe, is what keeps drawing me back to academia and research. I just want to know and discover. The only problem is that I keep asking questions and wanting more answers. Is there a limit?
